Can project experience count for RPL?
An assessor can compare your demonstrated learning with unit requirements.
What should you understand?
Recognition of prior learning assesses demonstrated skills and knowledge against the unit requirements. Project experience may provide useful evidence, but a project-manager title or years of employment do not establish that every requirement has been met.
What should you ask or practise?
Ask how the assessor will review your work and identify gaps. Explain the functions you managed and the records you can lawfully share. Seek a written process and cost before committing; an RPL application can still lead to further evidence requests or training.
What should you compare?
- Evidence for the course offer
- Your learning goal and circumstances
- Unconfirmed conditions
What remains unconfirmed?
Your evidence, unit equivalence, recognition outcome and any gap-training costs need an individual provider assessment.
What can you do next?
Ask for a unit-by-unit evidence plan.
